Operator, the line is dead

I love this song, it has such a good melody and lyric. Pity though, music today are so pop that it pops like that globalized carbonated drink you see people drinking everywhere. Rather than emphasizing on the art of music, they concentrate on how they can get people to buy the product: ranging from the so-called attitude style to that awfully handsome face (Note: This is oxymoron speaking) that fan-girls are willing to scream their silly throats off.

Then again, hell, artists need to eat too.

However, I have a particular dislike towards lazy untalented artists. Talented? Good. Not talented but hardworking? Good. Not talented and not hardworking? Really bad and trust me there are such artists.

I remember, years ago, I watched this interview with an actress turn pop-star who of all things, insured her ass (Need I say more on who she is?). Since she was in acting and transited her career into music, the interviewer asked what it was like. Her answer went along the line on how stressful it is to act but in music, it was very easy. All she needed to do was go to the recording studio with lyrics and music prepared for her already and just sing there and then. It was so easy, it was so not stressful, it was great! Who would have though of that it's that easy?

...

No wonder I don't like her. Even though I don't like that ex-boy band mickey looking member who voice acted pretty badly in that globalized green ogre movie, I have more respect for his hard work than for this everything is so easy chick.

Yet, she's earning millions.

Well, who ever said life is fair anyway? Just because you are talented, it doesn't mean everyone is going to split the money to buy your album. I mean, look at Imogen Heap. She can damn sing well, her songs are great and she writes her own songs. However, I have to be one of the odd few who actually know who she is. Where is she now? Is she doing something new?

Question: Why are they not supported? Is it the lack of marketing? Is it because they don't have that huge butt like someone does? Is it their fault that they are not that well-known in the general population? Is it the public's fault for being so ignorant of talented people? If it is about the money, then why are people willing to pay so much for a pretty face with no talent over a normal face with a talent?

I guess we kind of know part of the answer: We can only see with our eyes, but we can't see with our ears. The rest of it, go figure.

Oh Operator, the line is dead because it looks dead.
